Broadway Casts Its First Black Cinderella

Former Nickelodeon star Keke Palmer lands lead in 'Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella' and will be stepping into the glass slippers beginning Sept. 9th at the Broadway Theater....

Like many young girls Keke Palmer always wanted to find a Prince Charming and live happily ever after, and now she can. Eight times a week on Broadway! The former Nick star has been cast in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella and will step into the glass slippers beginning Sept. 9th at the Broadway Theater.

Palmer is very experienced on the big screen, but her role as Cinderella will be her first on the stage. The 21-year-old is stepping into the shoes of Tony-nominated Laura Osnes, then put on by “Call Me Maybe” singer Carly Rae Jepsen and currently worn by Paige Faure.

Growing up Palmer always looked up to singer/actress Brandy who played Cinderella on TV in 1997 opposite Whitney Houston.

“I feel like the reason I’m able to do this is definitely because Brandy did it on TV. In me doing this, it shows everybody that everything is possible.” -Keke Palmer

Congrats, Keke! Make us proud.

My name is Lizzette, but feel free to call me Lizz. I binge watch TV shows I've already seen, I'm constantly quoting movies, and most importantly I love pop culture.
