THR is reporting that Elizabeth Banks, who made her directorial debut in the mega-hit Pitch Perfect 2, is in talks to direct and produce a movie based on the female-fronted franchise, Charlie’s Angels, for Sony Pictures.
The film would be based on the 1970s TV series starring Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith, and Kate Jackson as private eyes working for the ~mysterious~ Charlie Townsend.
This would not be Hollywood’s first attempt at remaking the iconic series. In 2000 Columbia released a version with Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu that went on to earn more than $264 million worldwide. That was followed by a less than well received sequel and 2011 TV reboot starring Minka Kelly, Annie Ilonzeh, and Rachael Taylor that was canceled after four episodes.
Am I the only person who thinks Emma Stone and Anna Kendrick would make kick-ass Angels?
