If you’re a One Direction fan the day you’ve been dreading has arrived.
The four remaining members of 1D — Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson — are taking an extended hiatus starting next March. According to People the boys have mutually agreed to take at least a year long break from the band to pursue their own projects.
Earlier this month, longtime One Direction producer and songwriter Julian Bunetta told EW, “I know they’re taking a much-deserved break. They’ve been doing something that no band has ever done — five albums, five tours, and a movie in five years. It’s pretty prolific and incredible. It’s up to them. They might take a year off and miss it. They might take a year off and say you know what, I need another year off.”
The break means that the band will not be touring their fifth album, which is due out sometime this winter, but they will promote it through February (yay?).
Niall and Louis, two of the remaining four members, confirmed on twitter that the “break” is in fact just break and not a break up.
Ok so Lots of rumours going round. We are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well earned break at some point next year
