The Pope is in the house and he’s here to ruin your Friday commute. I’M KIDDING, but seriously good luck getting anywhere tomorrow.
Pope Francis’ Friday schedule is as follows:
8:30 a.m. — The pope will address the United Nations General Assembly.
11:30 a.m. — He will participate in a multi-religious service at the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
4 p.m. — The pope will visit Our Lady Queen of Angels School in East Harlem.
5 p.m. — He will travel through Central Park via motorcade.
6 p.m. — Pope Francis will celebrate Mass at Madison Square Garden.
The following streets will be closed on Friday via Time Out NY
From 12am until time listed
-Liberty and Cedar Streets between Trinity Place and Greenwich Street (until 1pm)
–112th Street between Second and Third Avenues (until 6pm)
–113th Street Cul-de-Sac (until 6pm)
-Central Park West between Columbus Circle and W 81st Street (until 7pm)
-West 61st to West 77th Streets between Central Park West and Broadway (until 7pm)
-31st street between Seventh and Ninth Avenues (until midnight Saturday)
-33rd street between Seventh and Ninth Avenues (until midnight Saturday)
From 5am until the UN General Assembly is no longer in session
-First Avenue between 42nd and 48th streets, except the tunnel underpass from 41st Street to 48th Street will be open to passenger (non-trucks) vehicles.
-43rd to 46th streets between First and Second Avenues
-42nd Street between FDR Drive and Second Avenue
-42nd Street Exit and entrance ramps on the FDR Drive
-Northbound on West Street between Battery Place and Murray Street
Streets the will have intermittent closures, starting at noon:
-31st Streets to 33rd Streets from Sixth to Seventh Avenues (managed accesss)
-Seventh Avenue between 30th Street to 34th Street
-Eighth Avenue between 31st and 33rd Streets
But that’s not it. On Saturday Global Citizen is having their annual Global Citizen Festival in Central Park featuring Beyonce, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and more. Again, good luck getting anywhere near Central Park Saturday. I am not leaving my house until Monday.
