The official teaser trailer for Kill Your Friends was released today, and it stars a stone cold Nicholas Hoult navigating the late 1990s music scene as Steven Stelfox. At its core, Kill Your Friends is a satirical look at the record industry and the distance people will go for success. The movie is based on the book of the same title by John Niven, a former A&R man.
Judging from the trailer’s blood, sex, and drugs, we can expect that nothing has been held back and Wired goes so far as to say it is Trainspotting-esque. Not only do we have Nicholas Hoult at the helm of this picture, which let’s face it, I’ve been waiting forever to happen, but we also get a drugged-addled James Corden as a bonus. Yes, the James Corden of The Late Late Show.
Mix in one part Rosanna Arquette and one part Ed Skrein, and you’ve got a lovely cocktail of talent. Stories about the record industry seem to be in vogue (see: Scorsese’s Vinyl), and I am ready to take the ride. Bring on the cocaine-fueled parties.
