When you think of Tim McGraw, you think of a southern, charming gentleman, right? That’s why fans everywhere were stunned to see him strike one of his female fans in the face.
During his encore show in Atalanta (Sunday the 13th), the singer walked down the catwalk to high-five his fans while serenading them with his song “Truck Yeah“. An over enthusiastic fan can be seen latching onto his pant leg with an iron grip. He then turns around and ‘swats’ her in the face.
One of his representatives is quoted by PEOPLE County saying, “He instinctively swatted to try and keep them from ripping his jeans (which they succeeded in doing!), and so he could get to more fans who were trying to slap hands with him before the end of the show. He didn’t know who had grabbed him and was simply trying to keep his pants from being torn”.
Alright, so maybe I’m blind, but it sure doesn’t appear that he ‘swatted’ at her in the video. A swat is a small tap. He also did not slap her. A slap is a quick smacking motion to the face. If you look closely in the video, you’ll notice that what he actually does is slightly shove her head. The fan is then escorted out by security.
Should the fan have latched onto his jeans? No. Should McGraw have shoved her head? No. Merely smacking her hand away would have worked just as well. So, what do you think? Was Tim McGraw justified in the shove, or did he overreact?
